There are some times in life when you fall down and you feel like you don't have the strength to get back up. There comes a time when the blankness of future is so extreme. It's such a black wall of nothingness and not even of bad things. It's not even like there is a cave full of monsters that you are afraid of entering in the future. It is just nothingness. It is just horrible. It is horrible to contemplate a futureless future if that isn't too impossible.

人生中，有些时候，你跌倒了，感觉自己没有力气爬起来。有时，你感觉自己的未来是黑暗的。这意味着，你的未来，不是充满了糟糕的事，而是一片空白。这种黑暗给你的感觉，不是那种对未来的恐惧，就像被许多怪兽包围住一样。未来，它就是一片空白，它就是那么可怕。可能，未来就是没有希望的。一想到这点，你就很害怕。

So you just want to step out of it to step out of the whole race, the whole business. The monstrosity of being alive overwhelms you. You think what kind of purpose do I have to live. I mean, are you just here to live and then die? Is there not a purpose for me? Is there not a purpose in life? There are some things in life that are out of your control, that you can't change and you've got to live with them.

所以，你不想再深陷其中，你想逃离这场比赛，逃离这一切。对于你来说，活着，已经是一件很恐怖、很难承受的事情了。你会想，我活着到底是为了什么?意思是，你活着就是碌碌无为，直到死去吗?你活着没有追求吗?生活没有目标吗?生命中，有些事情是你无法控制的。你不能改变它们，你只能学会适应。

The choice that we have though is either to give up or keep on going. The very first thing I want to offer you is empathy. I understand that that feeling is real, this idea that you just want to put an end to the entire game of life, so beyond my empathy and my care for you, my heart is going out to you.

然而，我们可以选择放弃，或者选择坚持下去。首先我想向你表达同情，我知道你的感受是真实的，我理解你想结束生命这场游戏。所以，我同情你，我关心你，而且我的心和你在一起。

I want to offer you this that there is a lot. There is a lot in nature, which is that of seasons. Right? So in the wintertime it's cold, right? And freezing cold in the wintertime, especially if you live in, say, the north, and it might be that it is so cold that you are miserable.

我想告诉你，生活中还有很多有意义的东西。大自然中有很多美妙的事，比如四季更替，对吧?冬天，天气很冷，对吧?要是你住在北方，那就更冷了，你可能会因为天气太冷而心情不好。

And if a man was so cold and miserable that he decided that maybe he should kill himself because this freezing cold misery is not worth living in, and someone might come along and offer him the idea that or remind him of the law and say, dude you have got maybe another six weeks you've got maybe another eight weeks and then spring is coming. Man, it is just this way things cycled through. It is just a season right now. I understand it is freezing cold and you feel horrible and you feel pretty bad about this situation but hang in there.

如果一个人感到很冷，很悲哀，他想结束自己的生命，因为这天气又冷又萧条，实在令人不想活下去。可能有人会来告诉他，自然规律就是如此，可能再过六周，或者再过八周，春天就来了。朋友，这就是四季更替，现在只是其中一个季节而已。我知道，现在很冷，你感到很难受，你觉得这很糟糕，但是一定要坚持下去。

70% of illnesses on the planet, all kinds, are self created. You are able to generate substantial amounts of intense emotions and thoughts, but in the wrong direction. You are generating thoughts and emotions which work against you and not for you. You think it's your right to throw tantrums. You think it is your right to get angry with people. You think it is your privilege to be depressed so that you'll get attention from somebody.

世界上，有百分之七十的各种各样的病痛，都是人自己创造的。你会产生各种各样强烈的感受和想法，但是它们都是错误的。你产生的想法和情感，正在与你对着干，而不是帮助你。你认为你有权利发脾气，你有权利对别人发怒，你有权利感到抑郁，这样别人才能注意到你。

You keep playing this. One day you will not be able to turn back. Happiness is a choice. That is what I want to live my life by. You can't always be happy. Listen, I know I'm not crazy. I realize the realism and not being happy. Sometimes you just have to put up with some crap in your life.

你一直玩这样的把戏，直到有一天，你发现已经回不去了。快乐是一种选择，这意味着，我每天想以怎样的心情度过。你也不可能总是很快乐。听着，我知道我是清醒的，我知道现实是怎么样的，我知道不开心是什么感受。有时候，生活中会有很多糟糕的事，你要学会忍受。

But if you are always striving to choose happines, every day you wake up and you say to yourself, you know what, I'm going to choose to not let the outside influences of the world affect my mood. I'm going to be in charge of how I feel because I am going to choose happiness.

但是，如果你一直努力地选择快乐，每一天，你起床的时候都会跟自己说，今天，我不会让外界的东西影响我的情绪。我的感受我做主，因为我要选择快乐。

I promise you, you will live a lot happier life and at least you can try to, right? You just have to set the necessary conditions for health, necessary incentives for health, for both yourself and your children, if you have them. Do not set incentives for sickness. I've felt depressed. I've felt miserable. I've felt at times where it might be better to take my life.

我保证，你会活得更开心，至少你可以尝试这样做，对吧?你必须让自己有动力去保持健康，这不仅是为了你，而且也是为了你的孩子，如果你有孩子的话。不要让自己有生病的机会。我感到抑郁，我感到悲哀。有时候，我觉得，要是结束生命，说不定会更好。

But with the wisdom that I have gathered in my 33 short years of life, I've come to realize that it's just a feeling and in the same way that feeling cold is diminished. The misery of feeling cold is diminished by the insight that spring will come eventually. And it's the same feeling that you should acknowledge, the same law that you should acknowledge that no matter how miserable things are right now, it is just a season. It's going to pass.

但是，根据我短暂的三十三年的人生经历，我已经意识到了，这只是一种感觉而已，这跟那种感到很冷的感觉是一样的，它们都会逐渐消散。天气很冷时，你感到很悲哀，但是，如果你知道，春天终究会来，那么这种悲哀的感觉就会消散。其实这个道理是通用的，无论现在的情况看起来有多悲哀，它只是一个季节而已，它迟早会过去的。

You know the thing that keeps one living is a sense of future, that there will be a tomorrow and a next day after that. I've got to do this and the day after that. I've got to do that, not that. Any of these things have a particular local purpose or convincing reason to exist but they somehow keep someone going. You might as well live while you've got the chance.

你知道吧，让人坚持活下去的，就是对未来的期待，就是知道还有明天，知道明天之后还有后天。我今天有事要做，明天也有事要做。你要做的事，每件事都有它的目标，但是它们都能让人坚持下去。趁着还有机会，你最好也好好活下去。
