One of the first things we think about when we hear the word comnmnication is language. There are thousands of languages spoken around the world today. In fact, linguists say that there may be as many as 10,000.

Speaking with others is an important means of communication, but we can also communicate without using words, that is by nonverbal communication. Nonverbal communication includes voice quality, eye movement, facial expression and body movements such as gestures and change in body position. But many people do not realize that everyone uses nonverbal communication. Sometimes, we "say" more with our faces and gestures than we do with our voices.

Books, magazines, newspapers, radio, television, and telephone are other means of communication. Today we can also communicate over long distance with the help of communications satellites. Some scientists say that soon machines will be developed for sending messages through the earth. The technology necessary to build these machines is very complex. But the language we speak every day is much more complex than the most modern communications technology.

As it is known to all, the power of words can be equal to a gun. When you say something ill to someone else, you’re, to some extent, setting up a destructive relationship with him. Instead, if you inspire others by uplifting words, the contribution to strengthen your friendship can be significant. However, whether the words are anti-ear or not, there is no doubt that they do succeed in making their way to impress you at all times.

Personally, there are specific words that impress me a lot. It's the final exam in junior high school. Unfortunately, I failed though I had made a good preparation before it. I never knew whether others laughed at me at that time. What aroused me, though, were the words from my classmates--It never rains, but it pours--from which I benefit a lot. at present, internet slang, such as “gg, mm, xia mi”， has become popular among the teenagers.

there are different opinions on internet slang. some students think internet slang is vivid, fashionable and full of humor and intelligence. besides, it makes chatting on the internet quicker.

however, some other students think internet slang lacks depth of thought and is too simple. also, it is hard to understand and not accepted by most people. the words sometimes might make people confused, even resulting in misunderstanding.

every coin has two sides. in my opinion, living in the information age, if we don’t know the internet slang, we seem to fall behind the times. it will be ok as long as these terms are used correctly in proper situations.

Internet slang such as LOL(laughing out loud)and ROFL(rolling on the floor laughing)enjoys great popularity among teenagers nowadays.In fact,it becomes so popular that many terms now cross from computer-mediated communication to face-to-face communication.Some teenagers even use them in essay writing.

People have different opinion,Internet slang has little effect on language in general,but will greatly influence individuals',especially teenagers' language development.The reason is that overuse of Internet slang will lead to the lack of proper punctuations and grammar and has numerous misspellings in writing.That will drastically reduce chances of employment when students graduate and seek jobs.So,for the sake of their future ,teenagers had better refrain from Internet slang.
