The vast array of knockoff name-brand products, such as cell phones, DVDs, MP3 players, have made”shanzhai” the hottest word of the year. Now we wear shanzhai watches, talk through shanzhai cell phones, play shanzhai video games, use shanzhai computers, even watch shanzhai TV shows. once a term used before some electronic products to suggest a copycat version of inferior quality, shanzhai now suggests to many chinese creativity and trendiness. With the media all over the rise of shanzhai culture, public opinions are clearly divided.

Advocates invariably associate it with innovation, stylishness, the DIY spirit, open-mindedness and practicality, as shanzhai products often mix imitation with innovation – a similar skin but a different heart. The final products are usually more functional and much cheaper than the original. Besides, they respond to the market more swiftly and they are more considerate in design. Thanks to them, more people at the grassroots level can enjoy the benefit of modern technology.

However, other people, including myself, hold more reserved attitudes towards the shanzhai fever, for all the popularity it has won, a copycat is a copycat. The mockery of the prestige products not only steals their profits but also upsets market competition. Moreover, shanzhai products thrive on the current legal loopholes. Under the disguise of anti-dominance slogans, they make illegal profits by violating intellectual property rights and evading taxes. And to top it off, the so-called innovation is only senseless talk as true innovation always faces huge costs and potential failures, while plagiarism simply builds success on other people’s risks.

In recent years, there are more and more Confucius Institutes being built all around the world, which shows that our Chinese culture become much more popular than ever. As one of the four ancient civilizations, China has long history and creates many splendid cultures. The ancient culture once had great influence on the world, such as Japan, South Korea and other Asian and European countries.

From the respect of school, Confucianism, Mohism, Taoism, and Legalism are the main schools created in ancient China, and they also have great influence on the Modern China and the world, especially the Confucianism. They deeply root in traditional Chinese culture and people's daily lives.

Specially, kung fu, traditional Chinese painting, poem, opera, cooking, clothing, architecture and many other kinds of cultural forms make up the splendid Chinese culture. The kinds listed above are the typical ones which connect to each other at the same time. For example, painting, clothing and architecture has many things in common. And each kind of cultural form contains numerous intentions.

In short, Chinese culture are the accumulation of Chinese history, which makes Chinese culture colorful and prosperous. If one wants to know or study Chinese culture deeply, he or she must spend much time in it, otherwise he or she can only get the tip of an iceberg.

China is a big old country and it has a history of more than five thousand years. We are proud of its culture and part of the culture even influences the world greatly. For example, the thought of Confucius. As Chinese economy develops very fast and plays an important role in the world, more and more foreigners learn mandarin in Confucius institutions. The essence of Chinese traditional culture can be tested by the time. It units the whole nation and no matter what kinds of disaster comes, we will fight together for the country’s future. Today, many young people lose faith in traditional culture and they are crazy for the western culture. They follow the western fashion and think we are the old style. But some day, they will realize they are wrong to abandon traditional culture.

As the world gets globalized, people from different countries share the diverse culture. The popular festivals like Christmas and Halloween are favored by people from all over the world. In China, young people are crazy about the Christmas festival. They treat it as the big day and prepare for it ahead. Some people think it is the bad situation for the young people to be fascinated by western festival. In my opinion, the meaning of the festival can educate people to be a better person. Christmas Day can provide people the chance to stay together and Thanksgiving Day teaches them to be grateful all the time. So we can share the spirit of festivals.

Nowadays, as the economy gets globalized and the policy of Belt and Road has been a hot issue, communication between countries has been highly improved. Culture impact is being gradually obvious. America, as the biggest power in the world, always implants its culture into other countries.
In China, we can find American products everywhere, and most people like to see American movie. Cultural impact can be seen all the time. US TV series is newly popular, which effects teenager’s life somehow. US TV series show teenager their fashion ideas. Most US TV series’ audiences are teenagers, and they are also the series’ target audience.
While watching US TV series also is a good way to have access to American culture. The TV show is a country’s reflection of their culture. We have learnt English since we were school, while we have less ideas about its culture. Watching TV series is a quick way to learn American culture. We can learn the accent and the fashionable words, which are hardly known from the textbook.

There is no doubt that Hollywood movie is favored by all the people. Almost in every country, Hollywood movies always defeat the local movies, winning the biggest profit. Hollywood movies catch the public's attention by good plots and advanced technology, while the local culture has been face challenge.
In the open market, how to preserve and develop the local culture is the biggest problem. For the young generation, they are easy to be caught by the foreign culture, thus to deny the local culture. For some directors, they ask for cooperation with the Hollywood actors, in the hope to develop local movies. But the result always disappoint the audience, they don't pay the bill to see the strange scene.
The reason for the loss popularity of local culture lies in its old features. If the culture is presented in the new look, it is much easier for the young generation to accept. Only the creativity can make one thing be popular all the time. In the open market, though the local culture face challenge, it still have its advantage, which is the combination of a nation's wisdom.

On the Losing of Tyaditional Culture

It is widely noted that lots of traditional culture is dis^ppeBriitg alotig with the development of technology* Many aucient architectures and traditional ways of living have been deserted. It seems that the traditional culture and craftmanship will be replaced in this modem era.

The following reasons can account for the above phenomenon. Firstly, traditional technologies are always considered ineffective while the new sciences are always highly efficient. Secondly, it is costly to protect the traditional culture.

the fund used to protect the ancient culture was instead delivered to the poor, it will be helpful to the improvement of their living standard. Thirdly, modeni science and technology facilitate both our daiJy and academic life a tot. For instance, college students always collect their thesis materials by surfing the Internet instead of borrowing books from the library.

In my opinion, although traditional culture is an ancient heritage, it couldn't keep pace with the development of society. It is the tide of history that the traditional culture and technology will no doubt be eliminated in the end.

As the world gets smaller with the development of technology, people between different countries can learn different culture. They can find the information from the Internet and most people learn the culture from media. But the fact is that most media report the events in their perspective, which is not showing the truth. So the best way for people to learn culture is to come to the local place, staying for some time and talking to the local people, then they will find what they learn is different from before. So the opinions from other people and the media are just references. The truth is waiting for you to find.

Feng Jicai, born in Tianjin in 1942, is a highly accomplished writer, known for his depictions of intellectuals' lives and the historical stories of Tianjin, where he has been living for more than 40 years. In recent years, while serving as executive chairman of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and chairman of the Tianjin Writers Association, Feng has dedicated most of his time and energy to the preservation of China’s ethnic and folk culture, trying to save the country's vanishing cultural memories.

Feng frequently published articles in newspapers, explaining his aims and beliefs to the local residents. He wrote, "Cultural relics are dead, but culture is living in the historical buildings. A city without culture is a city without root."

In December 1999, Guyi Street, one of the oldest streets in Tianjin, was in the process of being demolished. On this street, built during the Yuan Dynasty, there were many famous shops, such as Qianxiangyi, Ruifuxiang, Shanxi Guild House, and the General Chamber of Commerce of Tianjin. Again, Feng called for volunteers to record the street on videotapes, and collect oral history from local residents. In February 2000, a set of postcards was published with Guyi Street as the theme, attracting long lines of purchasers. With Feng's efforts, the destruction plan for the street was finally changed, saving some of the buildings there.

Acting on Feng's proposal, a nationwide heritage rescue program launched a general survey of China's folk cultures in 2003, aiming to catalog village-level art, songs, legends, dress and folk customs before they die off with their practitioners. A wide range of methods were adopted, including text, audio and video recording as well as photography.

Two severe problems in the rescue program were the lack of cultural workers and funds. Feng sold his own paintings twice to raise funds for the foundation to support the investigation of fine arts folk legacies in Yunnan and Guizhou provinces. Besides, he also calls for help from NGOs (非政府组织,非营利性组织) everywhere.
Feng was hired as a consultant of the State Council in 2008 for his outstanding contributions to the work of protecting cultural relics.

(1)保护中国传统文化的重要性;

(2)列举1-2个你所知道的国家或当地政府文化保护的事例;

The passage mainly tells us the importance of protecting traditional Chinese culture, which is challenged or facing extinction because of the developing society and changing lifestyle. Besides, China is nationwide sparing no efforts to do it.

The protection of national and folk culture is of great significance to Chinese cultural diversity and also to the harmonious development between local economic and social development. It is reported that the Guangdong government pays special attention to protecting Chaoju(潮剧), a local drama born in Chaozhou in the eastern Guangdong province.

In my opinion, some measures should be taken to protect traditional culture effectively. To start with, we should make a law to regulate the society’s performance. Besides, we should draw more people’s attention to it, for the more they know about the importance of culture protection, the stronger the support we can get from the public.

In a word, it is high time for us to treasure and develop our own valuable culture.

Chinese tea culture is both extensive and profound, which not only contains the level of material culture, but also includes a deep level of spiritual civilization. Referring to Chinese tea, we can trace it back to ancient times, which flourished in the Tang and Song Dynasties, Since then, the spirit of tea has penetrated into the court and society, going deep into Chinese poetry, painting, calligraphy , religion and medicine. When young people are asked about the meaning of traditional festival, some of them have no idea. For example, some young people believe that Mid-autumn Festival is to in honor of the ancestors, or it is a day to eat mooncake. Actually, most festivals have been advocated by the commercial ads, and they show people to buy more products to spend the festivals happily. Some ads try to implant people the wrong idea about the meaning of festival, just to attract more customers.

The loss meaning of traditional festivals brings the negative side to the preserve of traditional culture. The mass media should advocate the essence of the festivals, so as to let the young generation learn more about our culture and be proud of it.

Most girls don't like their fathers or boyfriends to drink, while inChina, it is so common for a man to drink wine and smoke cigarette. Men's drinking is a tradition culture inChina, they have their reasons. “For a better career future, you have to accept your boss's toast, you also need to drink with your clients”, a man said, to pleased your boss, every man needs to learn to drink. Five thousand years of Chinese culture, it is broad and profound, can we understand? But you don't understand, you really don't understand.Although there is a lot of knowledge in China, it is understood that you should at least understand. At least. Recently our teacher, the history teacher gave us one interesting history lessons,The funny history teacher speaks English for us to speak Chinese, culture. You're gonna think he's mutiny? Oh no, just to attract our attention more,Looking at the history teacher, the English language is not English, the way we all laugh, and thus know a lot of history,For example, the war of Jiawu, the opium war, five is patriotic movement and so on,In this one-day history class, I know a lot about Chinese culture, and in this history class, I know how people come,I also know that every one is not, only when you learn every one classes, you have feelings for life, and interested,Learning to play in the study, it is possible to learn more, to learn Chinese culture, you will be more vivid and impressed.SoThe partners should study hard. In the early morning of China, in the early morning, we must understand.

We often say that Chinese culture is broad and profound, so English is the same in the eyes of the English people. We feel that our Chinese composition is very good, feel in. My composition is very difficult, and it is difficult to understand the change. I don't want to learn. Oh, the British are contrary to us, so the American culture is broad and profound. When you first go to write an English composition, you will feel that it is composed of one or two sentences, and later. You'll know it slowly English composition,However, English composition and Chinese composition are exactly the same. First of all, to think of a good idea, the second to determine the center, and finally to determine what they want to express the feelings of feelings. And you have to sit on the tap. Perhaps you will think that we are Chinese people why should learn English writing in some translation, the home English composition is very important English composition can play on your ability. At the same time, you can also vote, fish tank your thinking, so English culture is also very important.

Chinese culture is broad and profound, English is also the same, so learn English composition. Is also conducive to our future life.

Cultural differences do exist in every corner of the world where the same behavior often carries totally different meanings when we socialize with people. The four experiences above are typical examples.

Take having dinners as a case in point when we are in China we often pay for dinners even though there are many people eating with you. But the next time it will be someone else who pays for the dinner. However, the British are uesd to having dinners with friends without paying for them.

I think it is high time that we hold an open mind to embrace different cultures. As the saying goes that when in Rome do as Romansdo When we are in other countries we should do things in their ways which will not result in a embarrassing conversation with the locals.

culture(16)

A folk culture is a small isolated, cohesive, conservative, nearly self-sufficient group that is homogeneous in custom and race with a strong family or clan structure and highly developed rituals. Order is maintained through sanctions based in the religion or family and interpersonal. Relationships are strong. Tradition is paramount, and change comes infrequently and slowly. There is relatively little division of labor into specialized duties. Rather, each person is expected to perform a great variety of tasks, though duties may differ between the sexes. Most goods are handmade and subsistence economy prevails. Individualism is weakly developed in folk cultures as are social classes. Unaltered folk cultures no longer exist in industrialized countries such as the United States and Canada. Perhaps the nearest modern equivalent in Anglo America is the Amish, a German American farming sect that largely renounces the products and labor saving devices of the industrial age. In Amish areas, horse drawn buggies still serve as a local transportation device and the faithful are not permitted to own automobiles. The Amish's central religious concept of Demut "humility", clearly reflects the weakness of individualism and social class so typical of folk cultures and there is a corresponding strength of Amish group identity. Rarely do the Amish marry outside their sect. The religion, a variety of the Mennonite faith, provides the principal mechanism for maintaining order.

By contrast a popular culture is a large heterogeneous group often highly individualistic and a pronounced many specialized professions. Secular institutions of control such as the police and army take the place of religion and family in maintaining order, and a money-based economy prevails. Because of these contrasts, "popular" may be viewed as clearly different from "folk". The popular is replacing the folk in industrialized countries and in many developing nations. Folk-made objects give way to the

the increase in international business and in foreign investment has created a need for eecutives with knowledge of foreign languages and skills in cross-cultural communication. americans, however, have not been well trained in either area and, consequently, have not enjoyed the same level of success in negotiation in an international arena as have their foreign counterparts.

negotiating is the process of communicating back and forth for the purpose of reaching an agreement. it involves persuasion and compromise, but in order to participate in either one, the negotiators must understand the ways in which people are persuaded and how compromise is reached within the culture of the negotiation.

in many international business negotiations abroad, americans are perceived as wealthy and impersonal. it often appears to the foreign negotiator that the american represents a large multi-million-dollar corporation that can afford to pay the price without bargaining further. the american negotiators role becomes that of an impersonal purveyor of information and cash.

in studies of american negotiators abroad, several traits have been identified that may serve to confirm this stereotypical perception, while undermining the negotiators position. two traits in particular that cause cross-cultural misunderstanding are directness and impatience on the part of the american negotiator. furthermore, american negotiators often insist on realizing short-term goals. foreign negotiators, on the other hand, may value the relationship established between negotiators and may be willing to invest time in it for long-term benefits. in order to solidify the relationship, they may opt for indirect interactions without regard for the time involved in getting to know the other negotiator.

Nowadays, if you search the Internet, you may find the weird situation that people say they are rich not because they own a lot of money, but tea eggs. This is the hot topic in the latest days; the topic originated from a Taiwan TV talk show, a scholar said Mainland was so poor that people there couldn’t buy a tea egg to eat. Then people in the Mainland laughed at what the scholar said, they showed off a lot of tea eggs in the Internet, leaving the words that they were lucky to have tea eggs. Though Taiwan is part of China, because of the history issues, people don’t real get to know each other, so culture misunderstanding always happen. Some people in Taiwan think the Mainland is very poor, so they say we couldn’t afford a tea egg. People need to get more communication between Taiwan and Mainland, we are a family, we should know each other, such misunderstand should be eliminated.
