在许多国家，中学生打工都被视作一种理所当然的活动。我经常可以在外国作家的一些作品中看到送报送奶的少年，他们从父母那里得不到多少零用钱，却通过打工支付不少个人开支。我去年还看过一本叫《我家有个小鬼子》的书，是两位留学美国的中国人写自己在美国长大的孩子的故事的。书中讲到孩子“花钱靠自己”，看电影、买礼物送人、买书都是自己掏钱。钱从哪儿来呢?就是通过除草浇花、卖糖果、洗车等手段打工挣来的。
我们经常听到中国的留学生到了国外，因为空有满腹理论知识而没有社会实践能力遭人鄙视的事件。这是与外国家庭从小让孩子打工，参与社会实践活动分不开的'。可见，中学生打工是有益的。
《中国青年报》也曾刊登过一则关于某些大学生缺乏实践、交往能力以致求职应聘时屡屡碰壁，最后唯有选择重新读技校，以求通过学一门技能寻找出路的新闻调查。设想这些大学生们如果在中学阶段便打一些工，恐怕就不会有上述的尴尬了。
当然打工也不总是好事。从媒体的报道上看到，一是某些中学生的方向不对，打工就是为了赚钱；二是某些学生急功近利，搞坏了身体；三是某些学生在打工过程中上当受骗，跳入了“火坑”。相关的实例在各种媒体上比比皆是。

对待中学生打工，我们要清楚自己利用假期打工的真正目的在哪里?我可以很坦然的说，最初的想法就是拿到工资就在店里购物，买自己喜欢的东西。但最后的收获却是，我懂得父母养育我们的艰辛。随着年龄的增加，工作的目的也愈加明确。我们这一代人绝大部分面临着的多是4.2.1的家庭结构，工作的意义绝非只是养活自己，的是一种必须履行的责任。过去只懂花钱不懂赚钱的我，此刻却想到一个词“节俭”。而且，事实告诉我，有文化和没文化真的不一样。这比老师在课堂上强调一百遍都更让人刻骨铭心。这正是我假期打工的意义所在。
也许某天碰到熟人会笑你，调侃你;也许又有某天顾客对你的服务态度不满;又或者因为一些原因迟了几分钟，罚掉几十快钱;再者上班时间偷了些小懒，让你的同班同事业绩比你好，如此等等。这其实是在考验你的心态，其实人活着常常会有矛盾，我们常常会感觉累，常常会“山穷水尽疑无路”，但只要走下去，就是“柳暗花明又一村”。
假期打工是我的一笔财富。那天是十号，我接过店长手里的一千一百块钱工资，那一刻我是发自内心的骄傲……初次体验到劳动的回报，同时潜意识里还感受到自我价值的提升!
象牙塔中的同学，不妨利用假期走出家门，认识世界，不过，别忘了带上清澈的眼睛和思辨的头脑。
