Im Alina Li and Im Ben Hedges, and today well be taking you through some of the most important traditions of Chinese new year and historical background. We will look at some of the legends behind Chinese new year and how to celebrate it. Here in the US and Chinese across the world.
The Chinese have specific way to celebrate their new year. If you walk down the street in Chinatown during Chinese New Year, you see a variety of ancient traditions such as red banners, firecrackers and lion dance performances, streets are filled with lively celebration.
However, legend has said that the new year has not always been a time of festivity. An Asian Chinese story told a chilly start to this festive holiday, it begins with an ancient Chinese beast called Nian.
Every New Year Nian would rise from swelling in the sea to ravage Chinese village in livestock and hurting people. The villages soon found out from a wise gray-haired old man that the only way to scare the beast away was to set off firecrackers and light lamps and to hang red banners on each door. As the story goes, this was the beginning of a tradition that would last thousands of years.
So this story leads to the creation of many of other traditions for celebrating Chinese New Year. lets take a look at some of these traditions.

Hot pot - is the most famous and favorite dish in Chongqing. Chongqing local people consider the hot pot a local specialty, which is noted for its peppery and hot taste, scalding yet fresh and tender. People gather around a small pot boiled with charcoal, electric or gas filled with flavorful and nutritious soup base. You have a choice of spicy, pure and combo for the soup base. Thin sliced raw variety meat, fish, various bean curd products and all kinds of vegetables are boiled in the soup base. You then dip them in a little bowl of special sauce. First eaten by poor boatmen of the Yangtze River in Chongqing area and then spread westwards to the rest of Sichuan. Now is a very popular local flavor and can be found at every corner of the city. There are a great variety of hotpots, including Yueyang Hotpot, Four Tastes Hotpot, Yashan Hotpot and Fish Head Hotpot. If you are adventurous enough, you can basically cook anything with hot pot, e.g., pigs brain and ducks kidney.
Chongqing people love their hotpot, especially when the weather is steamy. The fire dances under the pot, the heavily oiled and spiced soup boils with hazy steam, and the people are bathed in sweat. Although hotpot can be found wherever there are street vendors or small restaurants, chongqing Hot pot has the greatest variety and is known for its delicious soup base and dipping sauce.

The Giant Panda has a very distinctive black-and-white coat. Adults measure around 1.5 m long and around 75 cm tall at the shoulder. Males can weigh up to 115 kg (253 pounds). Females are generally smaller than males, and can occasionally weigh up to 100 kg (220 pounds). Giant Pandas live in
mountainous regions, such as Sichuan, Gansu, Shaanxi, and Tibet. While the Chinese dragon has been historically a national emblem for China, since the latter half of the 20th century the Giant Panda has also become an informal national emblem for China. Its image appears on a large number of modern Chinese commemorative silver, gold, and platinum coins.
The Giant Panda has an unusual paw, with a "thumb" and five fingers; the "thumb" is actually a modified sesamoid bone, which helps the panda to hold the bamboo while eating. Stephen Jay Gould wrote an essay about this, then used the title The Panda's Thumb for a book of essays concerned with evolution and intelligent design. The Giant Panda has a short tail,
approximately 15 cm long. Giant Pandas can usually live to be 20-30 years old while living in captivity.
Until recently, scientists thought giant pandas spent most of their lives alone, with males and females meeting only during the breeding season. Recent
studies paint a different picture, in which small groups of pandas share a large territory and sometimes meet outside the breeding season.[citation needed]
Like most subtropical mammals, but unlike most bears, the giant panda does not hibernate.

第一部分 听力

第二部分：英语知识运用
(I)单项填空
单项填空题在保证知识覆盖面的基础上,突出一贯倡导的语境化、交际化的特点,题干力求语言生动、地道,语境真实、新颖,所选考点都是《考试说明》中所列的语法知识和要求掌握的词汇。该部分涉及动词时态和语态、固定搭配考查的有24、26、28题，33题考查倍数表达法，25、35题考查交际用语。同时兼顾对代词、形容词短语等项目的考查。整体考查全面,要求考生掌握好基础知识。
XXX年安徽卷单项填空试题考查项目数据统计：
从这个统计表格中我们可以看出，20xx年高考在单项填空部分考查了考试大纲所要求的基本考点，考查的`项目多达13项。主要考查了动词的时态与语态、非谓语动词以及交际用语。但去掉了对冠词、主谓一致和其它特殊句式的考查。各题题干简洁，却能够给考生创设一个个较为完整的语言情景，这有利于考查学生在具体语境下对所学过语言知识的掌握情况。
(II)完形填空
完形填空是一篇议论文，作者谈了如何学好一门语言，难度属于中等。综合考查考生在语篇中对词汇的掌握和运用能力,以及对篇章逻辑的理解和把握能力。从考点上看，主要考查实词，兼顾虚词。请看下表。

第三部分：阅读理解

任务型读写题与20xx年相比,难度相当,内容是关于幸福，学生读起来较为轻松，题目设置有梯度，答题要求简练和规范。涉及词语释义、同意替换、归纳演绎、细节理解等。 近几年安徽卷任务型读写所选文章以说明文为主，内容贴近现代社会生活。20xx年此题的难度与往年持平。这就要求考生在阅读理解的基础上，对文中所提供的信息的有效信息进行筛选、整合和综合概括，并根据表格的形式，把加工后的信息准确、有序地完成与短文有关的表格，这一题型共10题，每个空格只能填一个词。其特点是任务型阅读属于综合能力考查题，考查的能力有：(1)捕捉信息能力，属基础题，快速获取信息的能力;在这十个空中，捕捉信息题要占一半。(2)组织信息能力，属活用题，考查学生组织信息和表叙信息以及对文中的有效信息进行筛选、整合和综合概括的能力。(3)概括信息能力，属概括题，要求学生在获取相关信息后，根据表格相关要求，对所获取的信息进行二次加工，这主要考查学生综合运用语言的能力。
(II)书面表达
