With the rapid development of science and technology, communication methods of people have changed a lot. In the long history of the past, people communicated with people who were far from them only by letters, which took a very long time to get the message. In the late 19thcentury, telephone was invented, but it was not widely used. Letter is still the main method. Later, telegraph came into being and was popular, which was much faster than letter, bringing great convenience to people. As time goes by, telephones become increasingly widely used. Due to the wide use of computers and the development of Internet, more and more people like to chat on the Internet. We tend to pay more attention to Internet communication than to face-to-face contact.

As Internet communication is not limited by space, we can chat with others where there is Internet with our tools such as computers, mobile phones and pads. However, when we chat with others online, we cannot express our feelings fully. Just as the picture shows, the parents cannot touch or hug their child. We know that body language plays an important role in our communication, but the Internet communication cannot do this. For example, when we are sad, we need more love and warmth, a real hug from our parents or friends can mean much more to us than just words through Internet communication.

Therefore, though Internet communication brings convenience to our life, I still don't think the Internet communication can replace face-to-face contact.

In the last century, the government carried out the policy of family planning to control the increasing population. So most families have only one child, but recently, a new policy has been announced and people can have the second child. It sounds like the good news for the family, as the only child can have a sibling to company. While for some parents, they seem to be not the qualified parents. A boy complained that his parents’ second child was the smart phone, because they lowed down their heads all the time. Many parents did not realize the lack of communication with their children. If they want another child, they’d better learn to communicate their kids first.

Recently, it has been reported that a boyargued with his father and then he left home and the policed found him, taking him home after half a month. It sounds so ridiculous for the boy to leave home for such a long time, but thinking further, the lack of communication between the father and the son makes this joke. There always some people wonder why we need to get higher education, becausewe may notearn money as much as the workers. In my opinion, the purpose of education is not for the money, but for the better person we will become. If the father knows how to communicate with his son and his son is considerate, then things wouldn’t become so bad. We need receive education and become the wise person, so we can communicate better and create a harmonious environment.

the increase in international business and in foreign investment has created a need for eecutives with knowledge of foreign languages and skills in cross-cultural communication. americans, however, have not been well trained in either area and, consequently, have not enjoyed the same level of success in negotiation in an international arena as have their foreign counterparts.

negotiating is the process of communicating back and forth for the purpose of reaching an agreement. it involves persuasion and compromise, but in order to participate in either one, the negotiators must understand the ways in which people are persuaded and how compromise is reached within the culture of the negotiation.

in many international business negotiations abroad, americans are perceived as wealthy and impersonal. it often appears to the foreign negotiator that the american represents a large multi-million-dollar corporation that can afford to pay the price without bargaining further. the american negotiators role becomes that of an impersonal purveyor of information and cash.

in studies of american negotiators abroad, several traits have been identified that may serve to confirm this stereotypical perception, while undermining the negotiators position. two traits in particular that cause cross-cultural misunderstanding are directness and impatience on the part of the american negotiator. furthermore, american negotiators often insist on realizing short-term goals. foreign negotiators, on the other hand, may value the relationship established between negotiators and may be willing to invest time in it for long-term benefits. in order to solidify the relationship, they may opt for indirect interactions without regard for the time involved in getting to know the other negotiator.
